tRecordify (“we”, “us”) is a Chrome extension and web app that records your TradingView chart tab, detects your trades from the on-screen Positions panel, and turns each one into a short video clip. This page explains what data that requires, why we need it, and how you can get it removed. tRecordify is not affiliated with or endorsed by TradingView.
What the extension captures
- Tab video & audio. While you have a recording running, the extension uses Chrome’s
tabCaptureAPI to record the pixels and audio of the TradingView tab you started it on. Nothing else on your screen or in other tabs is captured. - Face cam (optional). Off by default. If you turn on “Include my face cam” in the extension’s capture settings, your chosen camera is recorded alongside the tab while a recording is running and overlaid on your clips. Chrome asks for camera permission before anything is captured, and the camera is released as soon as you stop.
- Trade markers. A content script watches the TradingView Account Manager’s Positions table in the DOM to detect when a position opens and closes (symbol, side, size, entry/exit price, running P&L, timestamps). This is read directly from the page you’re already viewing — we don’t query TradingView’s servers or your broker.
- Account & license info. Your email (and, if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google shares with us) and an extension license key are used to authenticate the extension to your tRecordify account.
- Diagnostics. The extension keeps a short in-memory log of its own actions (e.g. “recording started”) to show you in its popup and to help us debug reports you send us. This log stays on your device — it is not uploaded automatically.
What we don’t collect
- No browsing history outside tRecordify itself, and no data from tabs other than the one you start recording on.
- No broker credentials, account numbers, or balances — we only read what TradingView already renders on screen.
- No payment information — tRecordify doesn’t take payments yet.
- No selling or sharing of your data with advertisers or data brokers, ever.
The use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: it is used only to provide tRecordify’s trade clipping and journaling features, is never used for advertising or creditworthiness, and is not read by humans except with your permission, for security, or where required by law.
Website analytics
trecordify.com (including the dashboard) uses Google Analytics to see which pages get used — page views, general location from IP address, device/browser type, and referring site. This is standard, aggregate web analytics: it does not include your trade data, video clips, notes, or anything from the extension. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy; Google’s browser add-on opts you out of it on any site, including this one.
Where your data goes
When a trade finishes, the recorded video (and face cam video, if enabled) and its trade markers are uploaded from your browser to our storage (Supabase Storage, hosted on Google Cloud) over an encrypted connection. A render worker (also on Google Cloud) trims and formats it into your journal clip. Only your account can see your raw recordings and rendered clips — storage buckets are private by default.
Each rendered clip ends with a short link (trecordify.com/c/…) to a public receipts page showing the same trade details printed on the clip’s end card: symbol, side, P&L and entry/exit times. Your name and email are never shown there. The video itself only appears on that page if you switch “Show video” on for that clip. If someone signs up after visiting one of your receipts pages, we record that they were referred by you.
How long we keep it
Raw recordings and rendered clips are kept in your account until you delete them or close your account. If you delete a clip from your dashboard, the underlying video files are removed from storage. Diagnostic logs kept on your device are cleared when you restart the browser or reinstall the extension.
Your choices
- Recording only happens when you explicitly start it from the extension popup — there is no background or passive capture.
- You can delete individual clips from /dashboard/clips, or request full account deletion (including all stored video) by emailing us.
- Uninstalling the extension stops all capture immediately and removes its local diagnostic log.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify active users by email.
